Writing has been a part of my life journey since I was in grade school. I’ve joined the school journalism team because it sparks my interests. Although I kept failing through countless school competitions, I never gave up on my passion.
Writing is like a journey. It is a lengthy trip with many challenges and many accomplishments, but when I reach the conclusion of my journey, I will be an expert ready to tackle my next project. I had no idea what I was getting myself into as I took my first few steps down this path. As I took the first step down this path, it felt like stepping into the unknown, unsure of what was ahead. But I know one thing for sure, that I will be successful because I am passionate. But that flame started to burn out. I stop joining the journalism club for five years. I also stopped writing stories and journal entries on my handy notebook because my mental health dropped. But then my adviser announced that they’d be reopening the school papers for the school competition. So spark went on to me as it re-kindles my fondness for writing. I quickly jumped in, just like the first step, without knowing what was going to happen. Fast forward after the competition, I am one of the top 10 best journalists awarded by the Federation of Christian Schools in Cavite.
Along the way, you will find discouraging signs that will make you wonder, “Am I going to make it?”. Sometimes in our journey, we just want to turn around, go back home and just give up. But it was the fire in my soul that lights the way for me. Sometimes that light was bright, but there are times the light was dull, leaving me stumbling into the dark. If you’d ask if what keeps me going? It was my love for writing.
